The financial aid application process has changed for students applying to colleges that require both custodial and non-custodial parent information.
The College Board has discontinued the CSS Non-Custodial Parent Profile and significantly revamped the regular CSS Financial Aid Profile form.
Now, in situations where the student’s parents are divorced or separated, the custodial and non-custodial parent must each complete a separate, regular CSS Profile.
It is recommended that the student complete the CSS Profile with their custodial parent first. Once they have done so they are able to send an email to the non-custodial parent directly from their Profile dashboard.
The College Board has produced a series of very helpful short videos that covers this and other topics related to the new CSS Profile.
