Seniors (and one parent) who intend to submit the FAFSA in October should apply now for their The Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) serves as your electronic signature for the FAFSA on the Web.
It also provides online access to many federal financial aid records such as master promissory notes and federal student loan history.
You will apply for the FSA ID only once and then use it each year when filing the FAFSA. Since the FAFSA requires parent information for dependent students, one custodial parent must also apply for a FSA ID.
Students and parents are encouraged to apply for their Federal Student Aid ID’s before beginning the FAFSA.
Even though the FAFSA isn’t available until October 1st each year, students and parents can apply for the FSA ID at any time at https://FSAID.ed.gov
